Meet the Board
As a ministry of Saxapahaw United Methodist Church, SVK is overseen by a Daycare Board. The Daycare Board is composed of two active members of Saxapahaw United Methodist Church, two community members, one parent of a currently enrolled student, the Director, and the church pastor. Together this Board offers support and guidance to the program.
Pastor Billy Sander (he/him/his)
Pastor William "Billy" Sander was born and raised on the west coast, and moved to the Goldsboro area of NC with his parents and brothers in 2005. Billy and his wife Mary met while working together and have been marries for 13 years. They have one son, Jeremiah, who is six years old.
Billy got his undergrad degree in History with a minor in Music from Mount Olive College. Throughout his college years, he was in the choir of St. Paul UMC in Goldsboro on scholarship, and he and Mary also volunteered with the youth group. Billy is an avid music lover and became the music and youth director at Bethel UMC when he received God's call into ministry. Billy then applied to Duke Divinity School and began working toward his graduate degree.
Billy lost both his parents, his father in 2009 and his mother in 2018. He graduated from Duke in 2021 and was assigned to Eureka UMC. While there, Billy helped the church thrive and grow during the pandemic months. Billy was assigned to Saxapahaw UMC in July of 2022.
Kathryn Brown - Community Representative (she/her/hers)
Kathryn joined the Saxapahaw Village Kids Board in January 2020 and helped to create a Parent Group on Social Media to connect SVK families. It has been a pleasure for her to join this village preschool community that has nurtured her daughter’s love for the outdoors through creative play, sensory learning, and movement. In her work with Cone Health as a Care Guide, she supports several medical practices in Alamance County helping patients overcome barriers to staying healthy and creating positive outcomes for their well-being. Kathryn earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Western Carolina University. Prior to her work in the medical field, she was a project manager for an early childhood music and movement publisher. In addition to serving on the SVK Board she is also a member of The Hawbridge School Board in Saxapahaw. Kathryn spends most of her free time outdoors on the trails, working in the garden, or running with friends. She lives in Saxapahaw with her husband, their young daughter, Evvie, and their two dogs.
Hannah Christy - Church Representative (she/her/hers)
Hannah is an Alamance County native and has been a member of Saxapahaw United Methodist Church since 2018. As a mom of a four-year-old and a one-year-old, Hannah is excited to not only provide support from SAX UMC but as a parent as well. She is looking forward to engaging with SVK and aiding in any needs. Hannah received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration from UNCG and is now a full-time mother, assistant to Bri Bakes and assistant to Tami Koury Properties. Hannah’s husband, Carl, and their two kids, Elizabeth & Seth, live in Snow Camp and are happy to be so close to the Saxapahaw Community. In her spare time, Hannah enjoys spending time with her family at the lake, cooking & entertaining friends.
Lee Hall Worthington - Community Representative (she/her/hers)
Lee is a retired License Professional Counselor and clinical supervisor (LPCS). Lee was a preschool teacher for 10 years with Pitt Social Services and Pitt county Community College. It was the work with preschool children and families that led Lee to become a mental health clinician. She received an undergraduate degree in child development and family relations and a master’s in Counselor Education from East Carolina University.
Lee worked as a counselor/program coordinator with Crossroads (Rape Crisis) for 7 years before joining Alamance- Caswell Mental Health Children and Youth Services in 1996. Some of the duties/positions included intensive in-home family counseling, Program Coordinator for a therapeutic preschool program that focused on social, emotional, and behavioral concerns and working with youth who were referred by Juvenile Justice Court System. The final 10 years of Lee’s career included being a behavioral health consultant for Regional Consolidated Services Head Start, where she provided support/resources for teachers, parents and other staff.
Lee has lived in Saxapahaw since 1989. She currently lives with her 2 cats, Simone and Badu and enjoys reading, journaling,walking, gardening and music, visiting with friends, family, especially her grandchildren, Dax and Siena.

Jonathan Williams - Community Representative (he/him/his)
Jonathan is a former SVK parent of two energetic children who now both attend The Hawbridge School in Saxapahaw. In his professional life, he is an estate planning and elder law attorney with Clarity Legal Group in Chapel Hill, helping individuals and families plan for special needs, incapacity, the cost of long-term care, and the administration of estates after death. Prior to that, he attended Wake Forest University and the Wake Forest University School of Law. Jonathan, his wife, April, and their two children live in the country near Saxapahaw. In addition to serving on the SVK board, Jonathan is an active member of the Section Council of the Elder and Special Needs Law section of the North Carolina Bar Association, where he co-chairs the section’s Legislative Committee. When not attending to his professional and home responsibilities, Jonathan enjoys music, camping, hiking, canoeing, watching sports, and is a once-and-future avid road cyclist.
Michelle Aronson - Parent Representative (she/her)
Michelle is a farmer, cook, and educator based on a small organic farm just a few minutes down the road from Saxapahaw. Michelle and her husband Matthew are parents to a two-year old son, Sawyer, who will join the Daffodil Room in Fall 2023. She received her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and English from the University of Virginia, and following graduation she has focused on creating hands-on, educational opportunities in the agricultural and culinary arts for students of all ages. Michelle attended culinary school at the Ballymaloe Cooking School in County Cork, Ireland, and today she loves sharing her passion for growing, cooking, and eating good food with her community. Michelle is excited to serve as a parent representative and she looks forward to connecting with and supporting the families and team members who make SVK so special.
